Preparing for First Grade

I am so amazed that the end of the school year is already here!

Don't forget to update you FindOut First for grade level.

Some tips to prepare your child for first grade:

-Read, read, and read! Even visit the public library or sign up for one of the free sessions there.
-Pose questions to your child while reading or after reading a story.
-Write, write, and write!
-Get back into the school time routine at least a week prior to school starting to help out with the transition.
-Use any of the math books as a quick review or practice any math skills in real life situations.
-Practice those independent help skills: shoe tying, buttoning, zipping, etc.
-Have your child try to solve real life problems on their own, or help prompt or pose questions to help your child make good choices. (Cleaning up after themselves, working well with others or in groups, taking turns, etc.)

Have a wonderful summer!

Cause and Effect/Chain Reaction/Circle Stories

Wow!  Your children finished publishing a circle story this week.  They turned out amazing!  The children presented in the classroom, prior to sharing with 3rd grade buddies.  I am so proud of their hard work.  These stories will be going home next week.
