Thursday Folders and Little Books

Thursday Folders

Most of the time, important information goes home each week in a yellow Thursday Communication folder.  This will have your child's name printed on a paper inside the plastic sleeve.  Please remember to return the Thursday folder the very next school day (these folders go home once each week).

Your child will also have an every day folder, which his/her name is written in black marker.  These folders go home Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Please return these folders the very next school day.

Make sure that all papers are taken out of folders.  I do not transfer papers from one folder to another.  Thank you so much for your support and help.  This folder process will be the same for your child as they move on to each grade at Centerville.

Little Books

Little books will be sent home very soon.  These are books read in smaller, individualized groups during the Language Arts block.   They are leveled texts based on your child's reading level.  We work on different reading strategies and comprehension.

Your child should be able to read this book to you; we have read it numerous times at school prior to it being sent at home.  Please make sure that the yellow story star and the bookmark with the reading strategies stays inside of the bag throughout the school year.  We will be using these resources as your child progresses.

Bags with little books must be returned to school the next school day, even if your child did not read it to you.  We have limited supplies at our school and will be using those books the next school day in a small group lesson with your child.  If your child does not bring his/her little book and bag back to school, they are unable to fully participate in these individualized lessons.
